Hi! I’m Xiping Sun, an M.S.E. Robotics student in the GRASP Lab at the University of Pennsylvania.
I graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) with a B.S. in Computer Science in May 2025. I was coadvised by Prof. Wenzhen Yuan and Prof. Craig Shultz, working at Robotouch Lab and Interactive Display Lab.

Past Research
During my undergrad time at UIUC, I worked on the following projects:
- 🟢 NailBender: explore nail flexion on haptic input and output
- 🟡 Strain2Force: nailed based sensor for 3dof contact force estimation
- 🟣 A modularzied design approach for Gelsight family of vision-based tactile sensor🔗
- 🔵 Large-scale tactile sensing for social physical human–robot interaction🔗

Personal Interest
In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies. I like exploring new dishes and desserts. I enjoy hanging out with my cat (check out the Fun page 🐾).
